Laiyang, Shandong: The Geographic Foundation of Our Food Processing

Why Laiyang in Shandong, home of Jiale Food since 2009, is a good base for fruit and vegetable processing: climate, farming tradition and access to ports.

Jiale Food has been based in Laiyang, in Shandong Province on China’s east coast, since 2009. The location shapes both our raw materials and our logistics.

A temperate growing climate

Laiyang has a temperate monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. Warm summers and cool autumns let fruit and vegetables ripen slowly and evenly, which supports good flavour and colour.

A long farming tradition

The Laiyang pear has made the area well known in China for a long time. Today, the wider region grows fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, peaches, apples, green onions and leafy greens, which gives processors a broad raw-material base close to the factory.

Close to export ports

Laiyang is close to the ports of Yantai and Qingdao, which keeps the distance from cold store to container port short for shipments to Southeast Asia, Europe and North America.
